BIRK HOW FARMHOUSE SOUTH LAKELAND White-washed stone rubble, slate roof with large chimney, 2 low storeys. Gabled open porch, and 3 deeply set windows on ground floor, of 3, 4 and 5 lights with wooden mullions. Three small modern casement windows above. Stable under same roof to right (south). Former cottage (now part of house) slightly lower to left, with a gabled porch, 2 windows on ground floor (one l8-paned, one new), and 3 new casement windows above. Lean-to stone shed on left hand end. Interior has an original chimney flue of lath and plaster, and a circular stair.
